U10 A's and B's Hockey v Loretto

Drew 2 - 2 and Lost 4-3

Our Under-10 A's took on the Loretto A team in a home fixture on Wednesday. We fielded two teams, As' in blue and B's in stripes, who each played the Loretto team.

The A's played first, but despite their efforts ended up being two goals down before coming alive a bit more during the second half of the match. Loretto had some skillful players in the midfield, who intercepted many of our clearances and through balls and that meant they kept the ball in our half for much of the match. The Cargilfield boys showed good spirits to rally though and when we reduced our dribbling and increased our passing, the results were more favorable, allowing us to make ground more easily up the pitch. Louis particularly showed great energy on the field. The boy's efforts soon paid off and they were able to score a couple of times to get the match back on an even-footing before the final whistle.

After a short A's vs B's match, the B's took on our guests to see how they fared. Unfortunately, they conceded a goal very early but, to the boys' credit, they picked themselves up and with the midfield working a little harder to win back the ball, they managed to hold back the tide for a while, but another goal was eventually scored before the boys finally managed to score one of their own. Loretto came back and score two more to lead 4-1, before the Cargilfield boys managed to reduce the deficit in the final few minutes of play. Whilst the result didn't go their way and Loretto were worthy winners, the boys can be proud of their never-give-up approach and a strong second half. A particular well done to Jack who stepped in from the A-team as the B's had no substitutes, and his contribution helped turn the tide.
