U12A Girls Cricket vs Loretto – Season Opener

The U12A girls headed to Loretto for their first matches of the season, with the sun shining and temperatures reaching a perfect 23°C — ideal cricket conditions!

Game 1 saw Cargilfield take to the field first. The team started steadily with some consistent bowling and excellent catches that kept Loretto’s score under control. Clara impressed with some superb spin bowling, making it extremely difficult for the Loretto batters to connect.

When it was our turn to bat, the girls worked hard but unfortunately lifted a few too many balls into the air, allowing Loretto to take some simple catches and restrict our runs. It came down to the final pair — Agus and Thandie — who ran bravely between the wickets, but we narrowly missed out on the win, finishing just two runs short.

Game 2 saw a determined Cargilfield team come out firing with the bat. All pairs communicated brilliantly and took every opportunity to run. Their hard work paid off, finishing the match with a convincing 40-run lead!

Well done to all the girls for a fantastic performance. You demonstrated resilience, determination, and fantastic team spirit throughout. A special mention to Alice, who was voted Player of the Match by Loretto — well done!
