U11A Boys Cricket vs Strathallan
Won by 64 runs
On yet another lovely sunny day, our U11A team travelled to Strathallan for a pairs softball cricket match. Each batting pair faced four overs, with every player bowling two overs.
We won the toss and elected to bat first. Arran and Ezra opened the innings with calm composure, losing just one wicket while steadily accumulating 17 runs. The second pair, Matthew and Evan, capitalised on some erratic bowling from the hosts and managed to score consistently off the hittable deliveries. James and Charlie kept the momentum going, adding a useful number of runs. However, a couple of wickets fell during their stint, costing the team 10 runs. Faris and Jack followed with a productive partnership - Faris struck two boundaries and Jack added one more, a notable achievement given the size of the outfield. They too lost two wickets but contributed valuable runs. Our final pair, captain Ensay and Benji, closed the innings by scoring off most deliveries, though they also lost two wickets. In total, the team posted a strong total of 111 runs, setting a challenging target for Strathallan.
Our bowling performance was equally impressive. Evan and Ezra both claimed two wickets, while Faris pulled off a brilliant caught-and-bowled. Arran, Benji, and Ensay each chipped in with a wicket. Despite a few big hits from Strathallan's batters, including four boundaries, our bowlers maintained excellent control, conceding only 9 wides—a stark contrast to the 30 extras given away by the hosts.
Strathallan ultimately finished on 47 runs, securing a comprehensive win for our boys. Faris was deservedly named Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance, contributing significantly with both bat and ball.
