U11A Girls' Cricket lost to Strathallan

A good game of cricket!

U11A Cricket v Strathallan

270-290 (L)

Another sunny Wednesday set the scene for our second game of the season, as the team travelled to Strathallan. Playing on grass presented a new challenge, with the bounce being far less predictable than on our regular astro surface.

Cargilfield opened the match with the bat. Georgia and Thandie were first up, adjusting to the slower pace of the bowling. Timing their shots proved tricky, but they finished strongly, scoring two boundaries in their final over.

Isabelle and Minty followed, showing great teamwork and communication between the wickets. Despite a few excellent fielding efforts from Strathallan, including two well-timed stump hits, the pair kept their composure and continued to run well.

Emilie and Captain Esme were the third pair, making solid contact with the ball and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Their communication was excellent, and they worked well as a team.

Jed and Polly closed the innings. Jed made an immediate impact — after being caught on her first shot, she came back with determination, smashing three powerful boundaries in a row! Polly supported brilliantly, connecting with wide deliveries and calling clearly, guiding their running with great awareness and focus. A strong finish from the final pair.

In the field, the girls kept the same bowling order. While the team continues to show lovely bowling technique, a few too many wides were given away today. Isabelle and Thandie delivered accurate, well-paced balls — although this did give Strathallan a chance to hit big shots into the outfield.

There were some standout defensive moments: Thandie took a great catch, and Minty showed excellent long barrier technique. The girls communicated well and stayed upbeat, which really helped morale on the field.

A big congratulations to Jed, who was voted Player of the Match by Strathallan — very well deserved!
