Well played!

U11 Cricket v Dollar

Won by 157 runs

Our Under-11's hosted Dollar on Saturday with blue sky overhead and not a cloud in the sky. This was a soft-ball pairs game where every player bowls two overs and each pair bats for four overs. A wicket has a penalty of 5 runs but the batters keep batting. Wides and no-balls cost the bowler 2 runs apiece.

We lost the toss and were asked to bat. Harry and Archer were our first pair and they made an assured start - keeping their wickets safe whilst scoring 43 runs, which included three boundaries. Emilie and Isabelle then added 12 runs to the total, running lots of great singles but unfortunately losing a couple of wickets. Freddie and Nick then took to the crease, running hard and scoring three boundaries and Freddie scored two maximums - their partnership was worth 37. Thandie and Agustina also scored three boundaries and ran a lot of singles, scoring 39 runs for their 4 overs. Finally, Tommy and Raffi finished off by scoring 28 runs, whilst having to contend with some accurate left arm seaming from Archie.

The visitors needed 160 runs to win but our fielding was up to the task with lots of energy on show and some good decision making too. Tommy placed the fielders effectively, which also limited scoring opportunities. Freddie took our first wicket in the first over and Raffi took the second in the next over. Harry then made an important contribution during his two overs, taking a wicket for just two runs. Isabelle took an impressive 4 wickets for four runs - one of which was a great stumping by Nick. Tommy and Freddie took some confident catches too. Thandie, Nick, Archer and Agustina each had two wickets during their spells - including some great run-outs, and Emilie bowled the only maiden over of the day. The regularity of the wickets made it difficult for Dollar to get any traction in the game, which was testament to the quality of bowling on display. The match ended with a comfortable win by 157 runs.
