1st XI Girls Cricket vs St Mary’s
Won by 30 runs
Our 1st XI girls travelled to St Mary's, on a glorious day for cricket. After a quick warm up, with the girls looking sharp, Olivia won the toss and elected to bat.
Our opening pair of Emily and Athena showcased outstanding skills and placement of the ball to race to 53-0 off 4 overs. Athena hitting 23 off one over. Two steady partnerships followed from Ceci and Freya, who hit the ball nicely to the boundary, whilst Emilia and Lottie rotated the strike superbly, to put us in a great position with 4 overs left. In went Scarlett and Olivia, the latter rotating the strike superbly for Scarlett who was able to hit 40* off 15 balls. This partnership pushed the team to 165 off our over allocation.
The girls were strong with the ball. Emily and Olivia opened the bowling and kept the St Mary's openers from getting away on a fast scoring ground. Georgina, their best player came in and turned the momentum of the game with a quick fire 35, leaving St Mary's needing 42 off 4 overs to win the game. Freya, was simply outstanding with the ball at the death conceding just 5 runs from her two overs.
A super team performance as we build towards our cup quarterfinal vs St George's on Thursday.
Well done, girls!
