Charities 2021/22

Fantastic charities to support this year!

The charities for this academic year have been chosen, with three fantastic organisations being the focal point of our fundraising.

Firstly, the Friends of Cargilfield chose Kids Love Clothes, an initiative founded in late 2009. This charity was set up when it became apparent that there was a real and growing need for a service that not only re-uses clothing but avoids the ever-increasing landfill sites. Each bag weighs around 3.5kg and are themselves made from recycled material and are fully recyclable. Nothing donated is wasted – what isn’t used is passed on to other charities and organisations. The very small amount of donated clothing that just can’t be reworn is sent to Rag Bag for recycling.

Secondly, the Pre-Prep have chosen “Riding for the Disabled” (RDA). The horses of this charity have benefitted the lives of over 25,000 disabled children and adults. With fun activities like riding and carriage driving, it provides therapy, fitness, skills development and opportunities for achievement. RDA is an inclusive and diverse organisation that welcomes people with physical and learning disabilities as well as challenges such as autism.

Lastly, the Upper School chose the Tailor Ed Foundation. This is a charity that has been supporting families with a child with autism since 2009. It was set up to provide service for families who were struggling to support their child to gain the everyday skills they needed for daily life – skills that many people often take for granted.
