U10 Rugby beat Merchiston

An excellent team performance!

The Under-10s hosted Merchiston on Wednesday. A last-minute change of circumstances meant that the match needed to be a game of touch rugby but the boys adapted their frame of mind quickly to make a positive start to the contest.

From the outset the Cargilfield boys worked the ball across the width of the pitch, whilst looking to build some forward momentum at the same time. They soon worked out that by passing the ball quickly out wide, space was created on the opposite wing, which they could then pass the ball back into. The majority of their opportunities were manufactured in this manner.

In their defensive duties, the team worked hard, quickly closing down the attempts of the opposition to gain ground and their wonderful display of defensive determination meant their opponents backwards on most occasions. The Merchiston team did manage to exploit some space out wide on occasion to score a couple of tries but Cargifield enjoyed the majority of possession to score 5 tries of their own.

Well done to both teams for a fantastic effort!
