Netball Tour 2023

Longridge Towers & Mowden Hall

Tour started on Friday morning with the excitement of getting a Netball Tour 2023 hoodie. We then all piled onto the buses to head South to Longridge Towers School near Berwick Upon Tweed. The sun was shining when we arrived at the lighthouse for our packed lunches. We then headed along to Longridge Towers where we were given a warm welcome. We had 3 matches happening all at once with, 1^st Team in the Sports Hall and 2nds & 3^rd Team on the astro. The views were beautiful and the weather was cold but perfect for our first matches. Our 1^st team were strong competition and our opposition never gave up! The 2^nd and 3^rd teams had very evenly matched games.

All the teams worked well with one another to secure 3 wins.

1^st team = 25-11

2^nd Team = 23-16

3^rd Team = 14-11

We then jumped back into the buses with our sticks of rock that all the girls had been given as a gift which the teachers were delighted about as this meant for a potentially quiet journey onto our accommodation at The Sill YHA, Hadrians Wall. This was the perfect location and the accommodation was fantastic. We were given our own floor with rooms and the girls were able to settle into their rooms and have a bit of free time before supper.

The next morning, we were provided with a feast of a full cooked breakfast giving us a lot of energy for the matches ahead. We then headed down the road to Mowden Hall where we were given a very warm welcome. The school had been shoveling snow off the side of the courts over the last two days in preparation for our arrival and to ensure matches could go ahead. Again, the sun was shining and weather was perfect for the games ahead. The 2^nd and 3^rd teams were up first, similar teams from the previous game. The games started off well with both teams again very evenly matched. We had a lot of parents on the side line cheering both teams on. All three teams from Cargilfield won their matches. We joined Mowden Hall for lunch and to chat to the teachers and girls.

1^st Team won 27-13

2nd Team 14-12

3^rd Team 14 – 4

Next stop the Metro Shopping Centre…… The girls were given the chance to wonder around spending their pocket money. The evening was spent back at the Sill having supper and some free time.

The next day we wished Lexi a very happy birthday with a breakfast singalong and then packed up to head off to Hadrians wall to meet our tour guide. He was all dressed up and talked us through the history. We then had a blustery walk along the wall before heading off to Vindolanda the Roman auxiliary fort where we were able to see the incredible excavations of the site that was occupied under the Romans.

Well done to all the girls for representing the school so well and for making our weekend a lot of fun!
