Form 5 are learning about the body this term in Science. They were very lucky to be joined by Ben’s Mum, who is a GP, with a vast range of medical experience. She showed us lots of diagrams and taught key information about the skeleton and organs.
Form 5 also had the opportunity to use some medical equipment – stethoscope, pulse oximeter and peak flow meter. They listened to their heartbeats which Ben’s Mum explained made a ‘lub’ ‘dub’ sound. There was a lot of effort put into the peak flow meters too, with a lot of huffing and puffing!
The final, but most fun, practical activity was dipping three different types of ‘urine’ and using the dip stick to see the results.
Ben’s Mum thinks there are definitely some future doctors amongst Form 5!
