U12 Girls beat Strathallan

U12 Girls beat Strathallan

A wet and soggy afternoon of rounders!

The girls had a rather soggy match today against Strathallan today on our Astro. Many matches were cancelled today but we were lucky to be on the Astro which kept ours on. Flora was Captain today and won the toss and Strathallan stepped in to bat first. We gave away a few half rounders with some erratic bowling but we settled down a bit and we looked much steadier in the field. Our deep fielders were rarely troubled as the rain started to get much heavier. Our combination of Rosanna, Sophie and Laura worked well and Laura stumped out players at post 1 on balls 14, 17, 18 and 22. We stepped in to bat and it was clear that we definitely had our batting hands on today; full rounders from Sophie, Flora, Emma, Alannah, Rosanna and Laura all followed from their first bats. We then had a further flurry of rounders and our score sheet was looking very healthy. Emma was our top scorer in the first innings with 3 rounders, Hannah and Flora scored 2 ½ each, Sophie scored 2, Caitlin scored 1 1/2 , Alannah, Rosanna and Laura all scored one rounder and Izzy scored a half.

Half time: Cargilfield 15 ½ Strathallan 4

The rain was really pouring down at this point but we kept on going in true Cargilfield style. The Strathallan girls found Saphira’s bowling hard to hit from, and we kept the score down to 1 ½ for the innings. Caitlin made a lovely catch on ball 11 which really was outstanding. Our batting continued to go from strength to strength and despite a few slips and skids, our score increased quickly. The rain failed to put a dampener on spirits and it was lovely to see the girls have such fun. Top scorer in the second innings was Saphira and Catherine with 2 ½ each. Flora scored 2, rounders and a half were scored by Sophie, Emma, Alannah and Hannah, Caitlin scored a lovely whole rounder, and Izzy scored a half despite have a nasty slip.

Final score: Cargilfield 30 ½ Strathallan 5 ½

Well done to both teams for battling on during the rain!
