This was a game where we had lots of possession but it took us a while to score more than the one goal that Esme managed to squeeze in after the first minute. Loretto defended well and we were guilty of not passing the ball around the defenders to make it easier to get the ball over the line. However, in the second half, we played much better as a team and passed more confidently and assertively to each other.
Isobel had had a few chances throughout the game and her determination to get on the scoresheet allowed her to scramble the ball over the line deep into the second half to make it 4-0. Esme scored a couple more goals and richly deserved to be one of the players of the match; however, Jessica, who captained the team against her old school friends, ran around setting up many of the chances and Tunrayo proved to be very solid at the back and comfortable to receive the ball under pressure. Eventually, the goals came thanks to our persistence to get the ball up the field quickly.
An improved second half girls and it is lovely to watch your hockey coming on since the last time I coached you. Well done, girls!
