A super game of rugby!

U11A Rugby v Ardvreck

10-7 win

In perfect rugby conditions, we played a lively team from Ardvreck. Jamie acted as captain for the day, with Caspian away, and he led his team well. We kept a good shape and defended well on the whole. A couple of missed first-time tackles let the Ardvreck boys in for some easy tries, but otherwise, we defended well with some notable work from Hamish and Wilf. Edward and Jamie were both particularly strong over the ball and managed to turn-over a good few balls. Johnnie stepped up well today, playing his first U11A match and he made some solid chop tackles and ran directly when he could. Theo and Oliver were a constant threat on the wing and it would have been good to get the ball too them a bit more often. Lochy also played well and linked well with some good hands. James swarmed up in defence and put early hits in against the opposition before they could get any speed up, which was helpful. It was great to see Toby back in action after a prolonged injury kept him off and he played very well.

Overall, we played some good rugby and scored some well-worked tries. Passing the ball before contact and holding onto possession are areas to work on, as well as giving the ball to our speedy runners in space.
