After what was a rather wet morning, the weather looked bright as the Lions began their match against Ardvreck.

Esme was feisty as centre in this first quarter, enabling a fantastic set of passes to Eleora and Thandie. We had a strong first six minutes, scoring three goals. Agus had some fantastic interceptions, along with Jed, who together ensure that Ardvreck scored no more than one.

It is fair to say that we dominated the second quarter, and with super persistence, Minty scored a further goal, as did Esme. Thandie and Eleora made a fine partnership, defending our goal admirably; only one sneaked past them.

The third quarter was heavily fought. We still need to improve on not standing still and hoping the opposition will magically disappear, but I cannot fault the determination of the team. Agus scored a super goal so that by this point we were 6 goals to 2.

Jed did a splendid job as defender; usually ready well in advance to defend our goal from incoming pressure. However, With Minty as centre and being well in the thick of things, Thandie and Eleora enabled us to finish on a real high.

I am so pleased with all U9 girls and how they are playing. They have come on so much and are a pleasure to coach.
