U9B Rugby beat Fettes

First match for the school

Won 8-6

On a mild Scottish afternoon, the boys were eager to play their first full contact match after training really hard to learn the proper technique of the tackle. They started the match with lots of energy and pace and quickly dominated the game. I was pleased with the tries we scored in the first half but I challenged the boys in the second half to work more as a team than individuals to score tries. They took on my instructions and I was pleased with the unselfishness they showed in passing the ball to their teammates. An area to work on for next match is our tackling of the opposition once they have broken through our line; they were great when the opposition was running directly at them but not so much when they had to give chase.

Well done, boys!
