Chapel: Headmaster of Ampleforth College

Learning to fail successfully!

It was wonderful to welcome Mr Robin Dyer, the Headmaster of Ampleforth College, to preach in Chapel this morning. He talked to us about the importance of being able to fail successfully, and the importance of being willing to have a go in the first place; you learn much more from not being successful, and gaining the determination and resilience to keep trying until you are.

In a previous life, Mr Dyer was a professional cricketer at Warwickshire CCC and he told us about the number of failures he had as a batsman until he finally managed to score some runs. We all know that feeling!

Well done also to Form 5 who sang the anthem and the blessing so beautifully in today's service with Form 7 being away in Kincardinshire, up at The Burn.

Thank you for coming to see us.
