Today is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, the day when WW2 officially ended in Europe as Winston Churchill announced the unconditional surrender of the Nazis to the Allies. The war was won, at last.
65 old boys of Cargilfield were killed during WW2 and their names are commemorated on our War Memorial in Chapel, where candles burn this morning.
At 11am, we shall stop and remember in two minutes' silence those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy our freedom today.
Our Pipers will play at 3pm this afternoon, because at 3pm on 8th May 1945, Winston Churchill addressed the nation to announce the surrender of Germany.
