U12B Girls Cricket lost to Craigclowan

A super game of cricket!

U12B Girls vs Craigclowan

Lost by 10 runs

The sun shone on our fixture on the Gillespie astroturf with two closely matched teams (albeit Cargilfield only fielded 7 players) exhibiting their improved cricketing skills in this pairs match.

Craigclowan won the toss and opted to field. Anne and Natasha set about their first two bowlers scoring 32 runs in the first two overs although, as other girls were pinned down by accurate bowling, the urge to get running saw us lose two wickets to needless run outs. After the first innings for both sides, Craigclowan were only 5 runs ahead and both teams sensed that they had the chance to win.

The second innings was equally tight. Some strong bowling from Tessa and a couple of super catches by Lexie helped to get us to the last over with Craigclowan needing 11 runs to win the match. At this point, Anna from Craigclowan stepped up and played some majestic shots to bring her team home.

The match was played in a lovely spirit with the Cargilfield girls all encouraging each others’ efforts. An exciting finish always trumps an easy win and we left the field proud of our efforts.
