12 Gold, 7 Silver and 14 Bronze awards at this year’s Junior Maths Challenge.

Cargilfield pupils have won an impressive 33 awards in the recent UK-wide Junior Maths Challenge for 11-14 year olds. Taken by mostly Form 7 and 8 pupils in April, they achieved 33 certificates.

Oliver and Shriyaa came joint top followed by William.

Oliver and Shriyaa scored well enough to be entered into the prestigious Junior Olympiad where they were awarded Merit certificates.

Other high scoring Gold winners –William, Aglaya, Arthur, Honour, Edward, Rafa, and Wilfred did well enough to qualify for the Junior Kangaroo bonus round. (Only the top 10,000 were invited to sit a follow-on competition.)

A special mention to Nick and Louis in Form 5 and Form 4 for achieving a Silver and Bronze.

The Junior Maths Challenge was taken by approximately 200,000 pupils. It involves answering 25 multiple choice questions in one hour and is aimed at pupils from S2 and below. Top performers go on to compete in either the Olympiad or Kangaroo competition. The Kangaroo is taken by several thousand pupils across the UK.
