U11A Hockey lost to Belhaven

A super game of Hockey!

U11A Hockey v Belhaven

Lost 4-2

We had a very a fast start where we scored an excellent team goal in the first 30 seconds through Ludo’s cross and Arran’s first-time finish. Belhaven then came roaring back, testing our defence in both open play and with a series of penalty corners. They scored a superb equaliser before being gifted two further goals when we didn’t clear the ball properly and made the wrong choice when distributing from the back.

However, in the second period, we picked things up a bit and tried to play more as a team and less as individuals, where we had been guilty of holding on to the ball for too long. We managed to score a second in similar fashion to the first when Ensay played a controlled cross to William who smashed the ball home.

In the third and final period, we couldn’t quite find the equaliser despite some great strikes at goal. Belhaven then sealed the deserved win with a fourth goal on the break as we gave up possession. It was frustrating in the sense that we knew we could play better but there are times when you have to put your hands up and applaud the opposition for playing some nice passing hockey and deserved to win the game. A lot to learn and build on ahead of next year.

Special mention to Raffi who was a calm presence at the back and took our player of the match award.
