It’s great to be back.
The issue of promoting positive mental health for all members of our community is one of things that we, as a school, I have been focusing on in advance of our return. Obviously, providing a safe and welcoming environment is key to this. You will have seen that we spent time on very detailed Risk Assessments to ensure the safety and well being of all those connected to Cargilfield, but we have also been working behind the scenes on the “softer side” of our school experience. As you will know, many things are different here for now but the one thing that remains the same is our excitement to be back together and getting on with what we are supposed to be doing.
When staff came back this term we had a two day INSET as normal. This time we focused on the idea of mental health and moving forward as a community into a period of recovery. We had a brilliant session from Hive of Wellbeing about developing our own resilience as staff and manging the new workload. As you will know from your own experience the whole work/ life dynamic has been fundamentally altered by the past few months and we were keen to explore what lessons, both good and bad, could be learnt from this.
One of the things I found particularly useful was a discussion on the Process of Transition. You might relate to diagram below. I think I have been up and down this slope quite a few times in recent months.
Welcome to Cargilfield! We hope this short film gives you a glimpse of what life is like for the girls and boys at our school. We would love to welcome you in person to tour Cargilfield and explain more fully exactly what makes a Cargilfield education so special and so different.
