Well done to the 32 athletes who travelled up to Dollar for our first athletics meet of the season. The weather was not particularly kind to us and we competed in slightly blustery and chilly conditions however spirits were high and the children were keen to compete.
There were a variety of track and field events on offer: 80m, high jump, long jump, cricket ball throw, 800m, 200m and relays. Notable results of the day were Esme winning long jump with a jump of 3.80m,Suzanne winning the ball throw in a huge distance of 35.64m, Calliope winning high jump, Ellie narrowly coming 2nd in the 200m, Flora S throwing 34.02m at ball throw (just 1m short of our school record) and Katinka winning the 200m.
The boys also faired very well throughout the afternoon with the highlight being Glen breaking the school U10 long jump record with a jump of 4.19m (old school record was 3.95m). Adam won the high jump with a jump of 1.20m, and Glen had another first place result in the 200m with a time of 32.07 seconds. The senior boys were also very successful with Leo winning the 80m (11.66 seconds), Otis winning long jump (3.84m), Vinjero winning the 200m (32.12 seconds) and Marcus winning the ball throw over Harry A by only 1.46m.
