1st and 2nd Girls beat Loretto

1st and 2nd Girls beat Loretto

Lots of goals and great teamwork!

Won 7-1

Well done to the 1st girls today who bounced back after our disappointing result against Fettes last week. We looked back to our normal selves; composed on the ball and hungry to score. We started off strongly with a goal from Sophie just after 2 minutes. We continued to press hard and pressurised their goal. Our persistence in front of goal paid off and Izzy scored a lovely goal which, in true Izzy style, was lifted. We quickly attached again a won a short corners which we scored from by a strike by Amelia. Katie moved well up front and was unlucky not to score and moved the ball wide which was great to see.

Half time: Cargilfield 3 Loretto 0

We started the second half in a very similar fashion to the first with a goal just after the 1st minute. Sophie played a lovely ball through and Saphira got on the end of the pass, turned and shot at goal. Our defence was rarely troubled today but when they were they looked in complete control. Emma had a strong game and stayed low and tackled very well. Ellie had a couple of lovely runs up the pitch and she popped a ball through to the circle which resulted in a short corner. Sophie struck this ball hard which rocketed in to the back of the goal. The play swung back again in our favour and Flora made a strong run on the right and crossed the ball in for Saphira to sweep in the goal. Flora was quickly rewarded for all her hard work by a goal after another good pass from Sophie. Loretto scrambled the ball over the half way and broke through and scored a goal in the dying minutes of the game after a strong tussle from Emma and the match finished 7-1 to Cargilfield.

Won 7-0

The 2nds had an equally impressive game this week and played some really good hockey. Flora M was particularly strong today and dominated our defence. Clemmie was on fire and simply couldn’t stop scoring too! The match started well and Alannah powered in to the circle early in the game and shot hard, only for the keeper to save. Clemmie took the rebound and got us off the mark with a good goal. We piled on the pressure in the next 10 minutes and Hannah had a good strike at goal and scored our 2nd. Hannah continued to play well and played a lovely ball through to Clemmie who made contact and scored again. Clemmie really had her shooting hands on and finished off the first half with a further goal to bring the score to 4-0.

Half time: Cargilfield 4 Loretto 0

The second half started well with a short corner awarded to us quickly. Catherine injected the ball and the ball came back to her, and she swept it well in to the back of the net. Clemmie popped another goal in after a great deal of pressure in the D, and a further goal for Clemmie soon followed after a lovely cross from Fran. Fran played particularly well on the right today, running wide and picking up many a strong ball from Rosanna, who tackled hard and distributed the ball strongly. Alannah was unlucky not to score today but was involved in literally every attacking move; her ability to always be the in the right place at the right time was great to see today and she really held the midfield together. Poor Caitlin did not have much action in goal today however her ever cheery face and positive chat kept the team going. Well done to the girls; a great team effort today.
