U11B Cricket beat Craigclowan

A good start to the season!

Cargilfield: 227

Craigclowan: 176

Won by 51 runs.

On a rather blustery and cold afternoon, the boys were excited to play their first match of the season. It was quite an unusual game as we played on the astro using the pitch dimensions as the boundary; making it a rectangular pitch. The aim of this was to encourage the boys to play more forward drives rather than pull shots as the smaller boundaries were in front and behind the batsman. I was very pleased with Cargilfield’s batting. We were good at placing our shots and hitting the shorter boundaries and running between the wickets. Our bowling was equally good and I was pleased with the amount of wickets we picked up. However, our fielding was disappointing on occasion. Too many boundaries were lost due to the long barrier not being performed. However, as this was the first game of the season I am not too worried and I am sure that there is just a bit of rustiness to be shaken off.

Well done, boys!
