U9A Boys beat St Mary's, Melrose

U9A Boys beat St Mary's, Melrose

Lots of learning and improving!

It was the first game of the season and we had nearly every under 9 boy playing. They were all very excited, especially the ones who were playing their first ever cricket game.

St Mary’s won the toss and chose to bowl. We had a bit of a slow start, not scoring many runs but we only lost one wicket which kept our score relatively high. We tried to increase the run rate but the St Marys bowlers seemed to always come back and bowl a very good line and length. Then our last pair of Tom B and Xander H came into bat and batted extremely well hitting a couple of boundaries and running brilliantly between the wickets, which put us in a good position .

We came out looking to strike early on with our bowling and we did, Adan W taking a great catch at long on. The St Mary’s batsman really took it to our bowlers and they were on target to beat our score but once again Tom B and Xander H bowled brilliantly and took a few wickets which put us in the driving seat. Well done on a great performance and a good win.
