U9 Stripes Rugby v Belhaven

U9 Stripes Rugby v Belhaven

Some terrific rugby on show

We played two very exciting games of touch against the two Belhaven teams who came to visit us on Wednesday.  It was a beautiful sunny and warm afternoon which was perfect for some full-flowing, passing rugby.  The boys have come on tremendously and were outstanding at offloading before they had been touch-tackled but also found the space to run in some terrific tries.  Belhaven fought back each time we scored which kept the score-line to just a single try in both matches but we always had that slight edge on our opponents who perhaps didn’t run forward enough with the ball in hand as we did.  Our shape in defence was good with our wide players staying out to cover the wingers.  We are beginning to look for one or two more passes from the restarts in order to get that ball out wide and into the space.  Overall, the boys were delighted to get another game against another school under their belts and were brilliant at carrying the Belhaven boys’ bags from the changing room to the school and escorting them up to our dining room where the usual appetizing match tea!
