Cargilfield 2nds travelled to Strathallan on a beautiful Autumn afternoon very much looking forward to an exciting game against Riley. Unfortunately, due to a slow start and an enormous opposition, things did not go well in the first half. Cargilfield struggled to escape from their own half and only some dogged defence from man of the match, Murray, stopped Riley reaching fifty points. Half time score, Riley 33 Cargilfield 0. After some stern words from coach Parker during the interval and one or two tactical changes from Riley, the second half began in a much more positive fashion with Kyan gathering in the ball from the kick off and charging towards the opposition try line. Although not able to get over the try line on this occasion Cargilfield surged forward with increased vigour and determination and as the half developed enjoyed a great deal of success. Finn, Ollie, Jaime, Seb all scored excellent tries with Finn able to convert 4 of the five tries, as Cargilfield clawed their way back in to the game and looked at one point as they may even snatch an unlikely victory. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts time ran out with Cargilfield once more on top. Final score Riley 40 Cargilfield 33. Well done to all for a fabulous second half fight back!!
