This Wednesday brought another fixture against Belhaven for the 2nds, this time at home. The two weeks off for half term may have resulted in fresher legs, however the girls also reverted to some old habits. Despite a little too much play going down the middle, we managed to win two short corners fairly early on, both of which were converted brilliantly by Poppy. Cargilfield dominated possession but too often found the flat sticks of Belhaven, instead of a team-mate. Josephine broke through with a fantastic run and a cracking reverse hit from near the baseline which found the backboard. 3-0 at half time. Belhaven stepped up in the second half and put pressure on our defence but Izzy in particular tackled well and Valentina made some lovely saves. The second half was more two-sided and Cargilfield slightly lost their cool. However, they held on and kept the score to 3-0 at full time. Some really promising play with more to come, which is really positive going into the second half of the season.
