After an impressive start to the half term our U9 squad headed up to the St Leonards tournament in great form and looking to repeat the success of the previous week. This week’s tournament was a round robin and allowed us to play everyone in games which came thick and fast.
It was therefore imperative to start quickly and the boys quickly started where they left off the previous week with a comprehensive six try win over Clifton Hall, playing a free flowing attacking brand of rugby.
Next up was an unknown quantity in Lathallan School, going a score down quickly in the game. We got back into the game off the back of some stunning defence from Monty and Wilfred, leading to two break away tries from Tristan and Theo. Sadly we couldn’t hold on at the death and Lathallan scored to tie the game, which would prove a crucial score by the end of the tournament.
Strong performances against Loretto and St Leonards put us in a good position for remaining games against High School of Dundee and Fettes. Despite some fabulous rugby and fearless defence, we were beaten by both by a score, which opened the door for Lathallan to take home the trophy.
A lot of positives and improvement over the course of the tournament. With Theo being declared Player of the Day for his attacking threat and brilliant line speed in defence.
