U13 Football lost to Merchiston

So many chances.....!

The boys played an 8-a-side outdoor match on the floodlit astro against Merchiston in an away fixture. The team were keen to play and had been practising hard. Unfortunately, our captain and goalkeeper were missing but it gave others a chance to shine.

The boys played with great heart and a sense of togetherness and were supportive of each other throughout the match. The substitutes impressed me with their commitment and willingness to sit out some of the time in freezing conditions.

The quality of football from Cargilfield was excellent from the start with Zain, Charlie and Thabo defending their goal solidly. In midfield, Milo was easily the best player on the pitch and was energetic and skilful, dribbling when needed and finding a few killer passes. Ewan was his usual buzzy self, breaking up their attacks. Oliver and Thomas were willing runners up the flanks and James was a danger up front. Arthur, Cameron and Chay were rotated on and were equally as committed as those they replaced.

The boys were unfortunately frustrated all evening by Merchiston’s goalkeeper and, although we had the majority of the chances, the boys were unable to convert. James had a few chances: hitting the woodwork and their goalkeeper and Milo’s one-on-ones with the goalkeeper could have easily secured a few goals on another night!

Thank you to the parents who came along to support on a very cold evening.
