1st and 4th Netball lose to Fettes

1st and 4th Netball lose to Fettes

Lots of learning!

1st Netball v Fettes

The girls had a tough day at Fettes, facing a tall and well-drilled side. Fettes started strongly and we found ourselves a bit on the back foot.  However we dug deep and like last week, we battled our way back in to the match.  With the score at 7-5 after the first quarter the match was actually closer than it felt.  We struggled a bit with our confidence and let the Fettes girls up their game.  Rosanna was tested in defence and she worked particularly hard, trying her best to turn the play round.  Fettes simply scored every time they entered the circle and we found ourselves 14-6 down at half time.  They pushed ahead in the third quarter so by the final quarter, it really was an impossible task.  Saphira and Laura shot well, however we were simply outplayed by a better side and lost 28-11.

4th Netball v Fettes

The 4th girls had a close match against Fettes in an end to end match.  It was great to see the girls play in a variety of positions and we rotated them throughout the match.  The Fettes girls scored first but we battled hard to get the ball back down to our end.  We were 3-0 down after the first quarter but we settled a bit better in the second quarter and pulled the game back to 7-4 thanks to some goals from Malayka and Georgia.  Ruby stood out in the third quarter, scoring 3 of our 4 goals and her court coverage was excellent.  We pulled the match back to 9-8 but we didn’t manage to score in the last quarter and Fettes popped on in the net, so the match finished a close 10-8 to Fettes.
