U12 Cricket Festival at EA

U12 Cricket Festival at EA

A terrific afternoon of cricket!

Arriving at Edinburgh academy on a glorious sunny day perfect for cricket. The festival was a T10 and we were playing a round robin with first game against Fettes. We batted first and started quickly with 15-1 off the first 2 overs. Felix U lead the way with a retired score of 25. Well done to Scarlett M for also scoring a decent 17. In the 10 overs we put on a respectful score of 76.

Our bowling was very consistent throughout the innings, not taking many wickets but keeping the run rate down. We restricted Fettes to a score of 54-3.

A good win to start the day.

Second game against SMC and had a very similar batting innings scoring 72. Conrad K was top scorer of 19 and hitting three 4s in a row. Orhan B also produced a steady innings but rules of the tournament meant batsman had to retire after 15 balls.

Looking for our second win of the day we knew we had to bowl and field well. We weren’t that lively out I the field and we let a few runs slip by but George C-S had a brilliant 8th over of the game which put us in a great position to win. We had a steady last 2 overs and walked away with our second win of the day.

Our last game was against Edinburgh Academy and as they had won their 2 games this was a final. We won the toss and decided to bat. After a slow start we managed to pick up the run rate but unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalise on using the pace off EAs attack. Both Felix U and Slyvan E retired and were able to get us to a respectable score of 52.

We had an uphill battle if we were going to walk away with the trophy. The players came out to field in good spirts and produce probably our best bowling and fielding performance keeping the run rate down. Unfortunately, our score wasn’t quite high enough and EA got the winning runs in the 8th over.

Well done to all the players as it was a lovely day and there was some brilliant cricket on show.
