U11B Rugby beat Fettes

Wellplayed, boys!

Their second match of the season took the Under-11s to Fettes for an 8-a-side contact match. Having completed a few more training sessions, the boys were keen to put into practice what they had learned about rucking and positioning. Fettes took advantage of a couple of missed tackles to touch down first but it wasn’t long before Jamie responded with the first of his tries, after a powerful run through the opposition defence. Cargilfield’s tackling improved as the match went on as the boys began to shoulder more individual responsibility; Johnny set an excellent standard in this department and Geordie put some great hits too. The boys were able to implement their fast-developing rucking skills, producing a good number of turnovers in the process. Fettes managed to score a second try by not before Cargilfield had put the match well out of their reach. Oliver, Torin, David, Monty gained good ground for the team by running direct before offloading, whilst Timothy and Arlo were hard for the opposition to deal with, particularly around the ruck. Jack and Max positioned themselves well in attack, which allowed them to capitalise when they received the ball.

Well done to all the boys for a determined effort and team spirit - great sportsmanship was on display throughout.
