Just as we were about to start the heavens opened and so we rushed for cover and were let into a building to keep warm! Definitely the driest team at Fettes that afternoon!

When the rain stopped we ran out and were put in to bat first. Captain Alexandra and Vice Captain Helena opened the batting with a confident 13 run partnership. Other good batting pairs were Charlotte and Georgia and Eleora and Esme both scoring 14 runs. We only lost two wickets in the entire innings which was fantastic as we ran sensibly and kept our bats grounded when making the quick singles. An excellent 99 runs made setting our hosts a target of 100 to win from 14 overs.

In the field we were excellent. Isabelle and Emily opened the bowling only conceding 7 runs. Jed and Minty’s two overs went for just 12 runs with Jed taking a wicket with her first delivery! The only other wicket came from Polly who bowled superbly and ran someone out in her over. Our top fielders of the day were Isobel and Anastasia but our player of the match for her bowling (only 4 runs conceded) and her brave fielding at square leg, stopping certain boundaries which kept Fettes just 7 runs short of their target was Katherine! Well done, Katherine; you have come on so well in the last few weeks!

We got the innings completed just before the next shower arrived and enjoyed a lovely snack in the pavilion afterwards. Well done girls on a great performance and making it an exciting game!
