U9 Cricket v Fettes
Black Team 238 runs
Dark Blue Team 248 runs
As we were about to start, an impressive amount of rain and hail tore into us and sent us all hurtling into a classroom for cover. Luckily, the weather settled, the sun came out in patches and the children cheerfully bounded out to continue their game. With mixed teams, it was lovely to see the children from Cargilfield and Fettes encouraging each other, giving high fives and hugs for good play. Both teams played some super cricket and it was encouraging to see everyone trying hard and improving with their cricket skills.
In the game I umpired, a highlight was watching Leia from Fettes take an amazing catch from a powerful hit from Jack, only to have Jack return the compliment with a great catch from short range off a hit from Leia. Everyone bowled well, especially Faris, Zanna and James McC who all showed big improvements. Louis, Ethan and Innes fielded very well with James R also managing to get a fabulous run out. Isabella, Jock and Manrai were tremendous batters today, looking to score runs and showing some good hits. Well played to you all!
