U10 Hockey v Loretto

Lions Drew 2 – 2
Tigers Lost 0-1

What a fantastic start to the season for our U10 girls' hockey team! The sun was shining and the girls were full of excitement as they prepared for their first match against Loretto.

The main goal for these games was to introduce the girls to match situations and encourage a strong sense of teamwork. The Tigers took to the field first, playing two 10-minute halves. From the outset, Izzy, Yara, and Sophia formed a dynamic trio in attack, pushing the ball into the D and creating opportunities to score. Yara stood out with her thoughtful passing and worked well with Izzy, who scored two well-earned goals. Defensively, Alexandra showed commendable enthusiasm, going for every ball and working effectively alongside Charlotte, Elena, Isobel, and Araianna, who put up a strong defence. Their support and tackles kept the opposition at bay. Despite their best efforts, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Following the Tigers' game, the Lions were full of enthusiasm and eager to make their mark. They started strongly with great passing and high energy. Cata worked well as the centre intercepting passes and making some great tackles. Allegra and Elizabeth displayed great effort and determination, chasing every ball with enthusiasm. Zaraya’s defensive skills were noteworthy and her collaboration with Ellie and Agnes helped prevent several shots on goal. Alesha, in particular, stood out with her spatial awareness, determination, and strong passes. She scored a wonderful goal, but unfortunately, it was just outside the D so did not count. Despite the Lions' impressive performance, the final score was 1-0 in favour of Loretto.

Overall, it was a fantastic first match for both teams. The girls showed great enthusiasm throughout the game. They are eager to improve and we can’t wait to see their progress in the coming matches.
