Today the under 9 rugby team played their first ever game of touch rugby against Loretto. The Cargilfield boys were split up into two teams: the Lions and the Tigers.
The Tigers started off the three-match series by playing a game against the Loretto team. Daniel lead the team in some great defensive work and encouraged the team wonderfully. William and Dillon made incredible runs and scored some beautiful tries. The rest of the Tigers worked extremely hard with Jack and Archie making many quick touches.
Next up was the Tigers playing against the Lions. Both teams showed off their newly practiced skills making clear defensive lines and running forward as a team while creating space. The Lions’ captain Ted offloaded many a ball to incredibly speedy Freddie. Oskar saved many try attempts by the Tigers and made some great passes which often ended up in points being scored. Calvin, Carlie and Billy played wonderfully for the Tigers making great touches and showed inspiring perseverance.
The final game was the Lions against Loretto. John showed off his passing skills and Luca did a wonderful job in reading the opponent. Tommy remained utterly focused sustaining the impenetrable defence. Tobias raced up and down the field with his speed being a force to be reckoned with.
All in all, it was a lovely afternoon of rugby with all the boys having fun and displaying good sportsmanship.
