A super start to the season!

U10 Touch Rugby v Loretto

Lost 10-12

Some of our Under-10 boys hosted Loretto's A team on Wednesday. For the boys, this was their first school match of the season; a touch game as opposed to a contact match.

Loretto started strongly, immediately dominating territory in the opening minutes and were soon over the try line to open their account. The Cargilfield boys then got their turn to attack but an unfortunate knock-on was seized upon by the guests, who again took the ball up the field to score. The boys got back into the match to score a minute later and after that scoring was pretty much alternate. Ludo, Jamie, Jack and Teddy led the attacks with some incisive running but as a team we struggled to keep up momentum in attack; this improved in the second half as the boys tried to run onto the ball rather than receive it standing still, which resulted in some great passages of play. Freddie, James, Hollynd and Arran put good pressure on the opposition with their defence and Manrai, Leo and Innes had some telling touches too.

The second half was much more competitive and although the visiting team edged the match by two points, the boys should be commended for their excellent effort against some sharp attacking. We will need to work on our defensive organisation in order to come out on top next time.
