Well played, boys!

U11 Rugby @ Clifton Hall

Won 5

Lost 2

Our U11 group was split between regular fixtures against St Mary’s and the Clifton Hall Festival.

Cargilfield started the day with a game against Compass School, the boys played superbly and scored some great tries by moving the ball to space, with Nick and Daniel both finishing off some fine play.

We struggled to get going in our second game, playing GWC and narrowly losing to a team who were physical and out rucked the boys. Hugo played superbly and was physical and abrasive on both sides of the ball, but sadly not enough with the final score 4-1.

We bounced back well in our next two games against Clifton Hall and Dollar. Ezra, Magnus and Archer all contributed superbly to the win against Clifton Hall, with the latter scoring two great tries. A familiar face in the Dollar side proved to be a thorn in the wide, until two late tries from Nick and Daniel sealed the win. Harry and William were immense in defence and Tommy was a nuisance at the ruck.

After a flat start against Fettes, the boys started to click and eventually ran out 4-2 winners. Nick made a super line break and it was expertly finished by Harry.

Our penultimate game of the day was against Heriots. The boys were physical and direct, with Daniel playing superbly. He and Harry again linked well and Ensay defended superbly making a fabulous last ditch tackle to save a try. Final score 4-2.

The final game of the marathon of rugby was against SMC. It was nip and tuck between the sides, but SMC narrowly edged it despite some powerful running from Tommy and the tackle of the season from Daniel.

Well done on an excellent performance boys, winning 5 games and losing 2.
