Lost 1-0
Today was always going to be a tough challenge against St Mary’s, a team renowned for their discipline and organization. As expected, they came out strong, but we stood our ground. For much of the game, we had the upper hand, controlling possession and creating opportunities, but we struggled to break through inside the D to get that crucial shot off. There were moments where our Cargilfield players hesitated to take the initiative and pull the trigger.
Defensively, we were solid, holding off their advances well, but unfortunately, we conceded a short corner that St Mary’s capitalized on with a well-taken strike. Despite this setback, there were plenty of positives to take from the game, including the impressive returns from injury by Emily B and Zinnia W, who both played some excellent hockey.
We pressed hard, searching for the equalizer, but the goal remained elusive. Although the girls were disappointed with the 1-0 result, their reaction showed just how much they care and how determined they are for the upcoming IAPS tournament. There are a few areas to refine, but this performance shows we’re on the right track, and we’ll be ready. Unlucky today, but this will only fuel our fire for the battles ahead.
