U11 Hockey lost to Newcastle PS

Well played, girls!

U11 Hockey v Newcastle Prep School

0 – 3

Squad: Isobel (Capt), Minty (GK), Niamh, Charlotte, Sophia, Jed, Anastasia, Polly, Katherine.

The U11 girls warmly welcomed Newcastle Prep School for their annual tour to Edinburgh. Excitement was in the air as our girls ran to greet the visitors as they stepped off the bus. After introductions, both teams enjoyed a classic Friday fish and chips lunch together, fostering new friendships before their much-anticipated match.

The game kicked off with Isobel winning rock-paper-scissors, giving Cargilfield the first possession. Both teams displayed impressive tackling skills, making it an evenly matched and competitive game. Initially, our girls struggled to use the wings effectively and often held onto the ball too long, giving NPS the chance to intercept. As the match progressed, the team began to link up better but found it challenging to create clear shooting opportunities. Meanwhile, NPS capitalized on their chances, scoring some goals.

Despite the result, it was a valuable experience for those playing against a touring team for the first time and an enjoyable match for all involved.

Well done to both teams, and congratulations to Jed for being voted player of the match!
