U11B Hockey v Fettes
Won 7 - 0
After a false start last Saturday with frozen pitches, the season finally kicked off with a home fixture against Fettes. Our Under 11B team enjoyed a good start to the term with a comfortable win.
It took time for the first goal to hit the backboard as it was still goalless after the first ten minutes but William made an immediate impact of the bench and with the help of fellow attackers, Ludo and Jack, managed to work the ball into the back of the goal. Ludo followed up shortly after with a goal of his own. Jack and Charlie held the midfield well as Jack managed the attacking role and Charlie the defensive aspects. Ezra then also joined in to contribute well to the attacks and also got a goal of his own. Ludo and William added to their tally and Jack showed a wonderful touch as he deflected Zachary's through ball over the keeper's foot for a fantastic goal. Benji contributed well on the wing too and this meant that the defenders didn't have too many high-pressure moments, although the captain, Magnus, and Zachary handled them well when they did arise. As such, Faris, who was in goal, was only called upon to act once or twice in the half-hour of play. George also had a strong match and managed to keep the pressure on the opposition defenders which helped to ensure the ball could stay in the opponent's half for the lion's share of the match. William receives the man-of-the-match title for the energy he exerted for the team to get the score-line moving in our favour.
Well done to all the boys who worked well as a team.
