U11C Hockey v Craigclowan
Won 5-0 and 4-0
Craigclowan brought their B team to play against our C-team boys, who we split into two teams, Red and Blue, for a triangular tournament.
Our Red team took on the visitors first, with Evan and Hollynd doing most of the defensive work, which they did superbly, Arran and James on the wings, Alexander in the midfield and Matthew up front. They worked hard as a team and it wasn't long before they created their first chance to score, missing by inches. They did score soon after with Matthew putting the finishing touches on a good passage of play through the midfield, out wide and then into the 'D' to score. Before half-time the boys were able to score a couple more goals. In the second half we played just as well, although Craigclowan did put us under a little more pressure; nevertheless, the boys managed to score two more times and Innes managed to keep a clean sheet in goal.
The two Cargilfield teams played each other next, to give the visitors a rest, and it was a closely contested match, eventually ending in a 2-2 draw. It did give the Red team a chance to warm up too.
In the final match, the Reds took control from the start against Craigclowan, and although they played a man down, they compensated by covering the space well in defense and making the most of the space out wide, where Ludo and Jamie proved very effective in their roles. William was a constant threat in front of goal, scoring 2 goals before half time. Zachary and Basil were solid at the back and helped Innes to a second clean sheet, whilst also distributing the ball effectively to the midfield and wings. Jock and Freddie played well in the midfield and covered a lot of ground whilst pressuring the opposition. The match ended in a 4-0 victory.
Well done to both teams for their efforts to implement what we have been working on in training and our gratitude to Craigclowan for travelling down to play against us.
