U11B Hockey v George Watson's College
Lost 7 - 1
This was a tough meeting as the Cargilfield boys hosted a strong George Watson's side, who displayed strong defensive skills and effective positional know-how.
In the first third, the visitors dominated possession of the ball and kept us on the back foot for almost the entire 12 minutes. We struggled to clear our lines convincingly and couldn't keep possession for more than a couple of passes at a time and therefore arrived at the first break already 3 goals down. The second third went marginally better as the boys managed to correct a couple of issues, still conceding 3 goals but having more possession of the ball. Clearing the ball from the 'D' remained an issue though.
The boys did not let their heads drop and continued to improve in the final third of the match, creating chances to score and having the better share of the possession. William managed to score a goal after a very economical attack from the back, and also forced the keeper into a couple of great saves. Benji and Charlie put in a tireless performance at the back, whilst Jamie was a constant thorn in the opposition side as he gave them no time on the ball. Ludo and Ezra grew into their roles on the wing, making some excellent contributions too. Faris was Cargilfield's player of the match for his excellent saves which kept the score down.
The boys can be very proud of their effort and determination.
