U11B Hockey v Belhaven
Lost 0 - 1
The Under-11B team welcomed their counterparts from Belhaven for one of our last fixtures of the season. Jamie played goalie in an external match for the first time and George captained the side. James put in an admirable job defending and managed to avert a good number of attacks, this was backed up with some good footwork from Jamie. Louis produced an energetic performance to help James out by tracking back from the midfield, but eventually Belhaven found a way through and after a series of rebounds managed to score before the first third ended.
The break gave the boys a chance to regroup and to plan their game more appropriately and the boys understood their roles a little better by the start of the next third. Daniyal, Hollynd and Arran were able to build some good passes in the midfield and Matthew started to get some opportunities to score but some great goalkeeping proved to be a thorn in his side throughout the game. James and Charlie stood strong in defence, which gave the boys confidence to push further up the pitch.
In the final third, the boys continued to attack the opposition goal but the goalie managed to repel their attempts. Jamie had a couple of saves to make at the other end, which he did very confidently. Evan had some great touches in the midfield and, along with George, helped to create some chances to score but despite the team's best efforts, they just couldn't get the ball in the goal.
Whilst the boys were undoubtedly disappointed, they should be proud of their efforts and how they turned around the game after a shaky start.
