U11C Hockey lost to Belhaven

Well played, boys!

U11C Hockey v Belhaven

Lost 1 - 3

Ten of our Under-11 boys featured for the Under-11C team on Wednesday. No goalkeepers were played so seven outfield players took to the field.

The match started quite even-handed, Teddy kept the opposition on their toes with some excellent dribbling and Freddie J, Jock and Alexander played well in the midfield, not allowing the opposition too much time on the ball and making crucial interceptions. Freddie B, Leo and Manrai gave their defensive roles their due attention and helped to thwart numerous attacks until an unfortunate mistake led to an open goal and easy finish, so Belhaven took a 1-0 lead.

A short interval allowed the boys a break to regroup and strategise, which led to a stronger performance in the midfield, Innes and Basil put in a strong showing at the back, whilst Freddie B, Alexander and Teddy managed to work together up front to create some chances, with Teddy eventually finishing a chance off. Karim and Jock had a positive effect in the midfield, ensuring the opposition couldn't get any easy passes through the centre.

In the final third of the match, there were further personnel changes as Leo, Freddie B and Manrai returned to the pitch and Jock, Freddie J and Alexander had a rest. Basil and Innes moved into the midfield to help Teddy create more chances. Unfortunately for us, although Belhaven had fewer chances, they managed to convert two more so the match ended 3-1 in their favour.

The boys showed a pleasing amount of passion and heart in their performance and, whilst they lost, they should be proud of their efforts. The match was very even and with a bit of luck it might have gone the other way. Nevertheless, well done to Belhaven for securing the victory.
