U11A Netball v Strathallan
Won 17-8
Our final match at Strathallan this afternoon was a fabulous game. We had been a bit inconsistent in training but managed to pull out all the stops today.
In the first quarter we took an early lead. Strathallan although quite a lot taller than us were using a lot of high lobs which meant that we had opportunities to get in front and intercept. Esme, Emilie and Rose worked very well at this and got the ball up to our shooters Isabella and Eleora. We pulled ahead for a convincing lead at the first quarter. Strathallan then changed their tactics and worked to get in front. They had some good moves but were no match for Thandie and Rose in defence. Georgia moved very quickly on the wing and also managed to use square passes to allow the other players to catch up. By half time we were 7 goals ahead.
Having an advantage we used the half time break to switch around and try other positions. Emilie moved to shooter and then Centre. Eleora took a turn at GD and Rose at Centre with Esme on the Wing. We were not quite as strong in these positions which allowed Strathallan to creep back a bit. However, as we got into the swing of it we remembered to use different passes to get he ball up the court. The high ball into the D remained our best tactic and maximised our scoring opportunities.
This was a super game which showed the increasing versatility of the girls as individual players and their progress as a team. Well done!
