U13A/B Hockey beat St Mary's

A good start to the season!

U13 Hockey v St Mary’s

Won 6 – 1

It was a good welcome back from the holidays with a very early game in the season. With only having 2 training sessions before our match, I was expecting a bit of rawness in our play.

We started off very strong winning an early short corner with H Toub slotting the ball in the bottom corner giving us a well-deserved lead. This lifted the team and we start playing quick passing hockey. We could only sustain this for the first quarter as our rustiness started showing with a few sloppy mistakes. Even though our game wasn’t at 100% we showed glimpses of some brilliant hockey, especially our counter attacking.

We went into half time with a comfortable lead but we were still leaking a couple of chances. We changed positions around as I would like players to experience everywhere on the park. This caused a little confusion at the start of the third quarter and we let St Mary’s get onto the scoresheet. After this we composed ourselves and went back to attacking hockey with some well worked team goals.

It was a great start to the season but also now we know what we need to work on. Well done on a good win.
