U11B Netball v Kilgraston
With the clear sunny drive up to Kilgraston, the girls arrived ready to do a job. With a good first quarter with some great passing allowed us to get into the game nicely. With some great movement from Bea and Alice, this allowed us to get into shooting areas but unfortunately could only score one goal. As the quarter went on our defence opened slightly allowing Kilgraston to level the scores to one a piece. With a change of positions going into the second quarter, this allowed the girls to play in positions that they're not always used to. With some great play in the middle from Thalia, this allowed us to have more options around the court with some better passing. This allowed us to score 2 more goals before the half time break. Unfortunately, we let in another goal and the score was 3-2 at the break.
With a half time talk emphasising passing and movement with communication, the girls really showed what they could do and moved the ball quickly around the court, but the lob passes were still the downfall for us as we got closer to the shooting areas. This meant we could only score 1 more in this quarter as we weren't strategic enough in the clinical positions. Again, in the break before the final quarter, passing and running into space was talked about and the girls did exactly what was asked. With the score board on their side, they worked the ball well keeping it away from the defensive efforts of Kilgraston and some positive play all around the court lead to our final goal being scored. This took us ahead by 2 and gave us some breathing space. With a couple of missed chances towards the end of the final quarter, this allowed Kilgraston to regroup and score another for themselves. The final whistle was blown leaving the final score at Cargilfield 5- Kilgraston 4. The girls played well, and they should be proud to get their first win of the season. Well done girls.
