U11A Rugby lose a nail biter!

A terrific game of rugby!

Cargilfield 4 tries – Fettes 5 tries

What a super game of rugby between two athletic and determined under 11 rugby teams. Cargilfield made the better start, scoring first and, but for one or two handling errors, they might have extended their lead and made the game their own. Credit must go to Fettes who recovered, tackled bravely on their try line and kept the lead to 1-0 for a while.

As Fettes started to find some space wide, so one or two of their runners proved fast and evasive and they pulled level and then created a 2-1 lead by half-time and 4-1 soon after. Cargilfield were undaunted though and took advantage of some gaps in the Fettes defence, powering through with straight runs and bringing the game back to 4-3.

While Fettes added another try, it was left to Cargilfield to score the last try of the match, which involved a period of concerted pressure and good hands near to the Fettes try line.

It was a match that could have gone either way and these two teams will undoubtedly have another close game when they meet again. By then, Cargilfield may have added more stamina and athleticism out wide to their power, courage in the tackle and effective rucking.
